Product Details

The Adafruit S-35710 low-power wake up timer is a versatile watchdog timer chip with a 24-bit second counter, capable of being programmed for alarms ranging from 1 second to 194 days. It offers a viable alternative to real time clocks and internal sleep timers, making it a potentially valuable component for ultra-low-power projects. This product was recently featured on EYE ON NPI and is now available for purchase in our shop.

Easily utilize this device by writing to the timer register via I2C, initiating a countdown from 0 seconds and a high output signal. When the timer matches the register, the output signal switches to low. This efficient timer has a low power consumption of only 0.2uA. The output is open-drain and can be inverted by using the switch to route the signal through an N-channel FET, reversing the polarity.

Please take note that upon powering up, the OUT line will default to a low state. This makes it unsuitable for use as a low-power sleep manager, and is only suitable for watch-dog-like timings. Therefore, it cannot be connected to your microcontroller's reset or enable line for self-powering, as it will be disabled or reset upon power up. However, it may still be a useful chip for those who require a long delay signal or a more sophisticated power management system.

To get you going fast, we spun up a custom-made PCB in the, making it easy to interface with. The  on either side are compatible with the  I2C connectors. This allows you to make solderless connections between your development board and the S-35710 or to chain it with a wide range of other sensors and accessories using a .
